Smallholder farmers in northern Bangladesh are trapped in cycles of debt and poverty. h
Reliant on middlemen for inputs and sales, they lose up to 70% of their crop value and face steep loan interest rates, poor-quality supplies and little control over their livelihoods - made worse by frequent monsoon floods.
The Problem
The Solution
Project Folon gives farmers direct access to quality seeds, tools, and expert support.
By promoting high-value crops and linking them to fairer markets, Folon helps farmers increase yields, earn more and build lasting resilience without middlemen.
How our funds are being spent
👨🌾 Choosing farmers
We work with our local partners to identify farmers in vulnerable communities who would benefit most from support. Selection criteria include economic need, commitment to sustainable practices, and potential for long-term impact.
📚 Training
Farmers receive comprehensive training on modern agricultural techniques, including soil health management, pest control, and crop rotation strategies to maximize yields sustainably.
💡 Advice
Ongoing advisory support helps farmers troubleshoot challenges, adapt to changing conditions, and continuously improve their practices for better outcomes.
📊 Monitoring
Regular monitoring ensures projects stay on track, resources are used effectively, and we can measure real impact through data collection and field visits.
🌾 Farming supplies
Essential farming supplies including quality seeds, organic fertilizers, and basic tools help farmers implement new techniques and improve productivity.
💧 Irrigation
Improved irrigation systems ensure reliable water access, enabling farmers to grow crops year-round and reducing vulnerability to climate variability.

🩸 Ensures safe menstrual health
🩸 Ensures safe menstrual health
Our support provides 1,100 tea garden women with reusable sanitary pads and undergarments for one full year. This gives them time to save enough to sustain these practices independently, breaking the cycle of choosing between hygiene and survival.
💪 Creates community health leaders
💪 Creates community health leaders
We're training 10 educated local women as community trainers who will conduct 73 courtyard sessions, reaching deep into tea garden communities where formal healthcare rarely goes. These trainers earn income while transforming menstrual health knowledge in their communities.
🌸 Breaks generational stigma
🌸 Breaks generational stigma
Through grassroots courtyard sessions, women learn proper menstrual hygiene management in safe, trusted spaces. This knowledge gets passed down, ensuring future generations grow up with dignity and health awareness instead of shame and silence.
💰 Protects daily income
💰 Protects daily income
When women can manage their periods safely, they don't lose workdays. For families surviving on £1.50 daily wages, those extra working days mean the difference between making rent and falling behind, between school fees paid and children pulled from education.
📊 Measures real change
📊 Measures real change
Pre- and post-intervention surveys track behavioral change across treatment and control groups. This isn't just aid - it's evidence-based community development that proves sustainable impact.
