Project GROW

Climate change and natural disasters leave vulnerable families struggling to survive while their children's education suffers.

In Satkhira, southwestern Bangladesh, families face devastating cyclones, floods, and loss of livelihood every year. Women endure abuse and underpayment in what little work is available, leading to early marriage and pregnancy. Without economic opportunities, children - especially adolescents - are forced to abandon their education to help support their families.

Here’s what our investment* does

💼 Creates sustainable income

Families receive support to start small businesses like tea stalls and grocery shops, or receive livestock such as cattle, goats, chickens and ducks to generate ongoing income.

🎓 Ensures children stay in school

All economic support comes with the condition that families must keep their adolescent children in education - breaking the cycle of poverty.

✂️ Provides skills and equipment

Women who have received training get equipment and materials to start businesses.

👨‍👩‍👧‍👦 Develops family plans

Training helps families create sustainable development plans, teaching them how to balance income generation with supporting their children's education.

📊 Monitors family progress

Through an Adolescent Resource Center (ARC), we track each family's progress monthly to ensure they're successfully building their livelihoods.
